As a kid, I learned about the splendor of the majestic church in Barcelona, Spain. It is the La Sagrada Família, I became totally fascinated by it when I watched the Asian TV Series “Meteor Garden II” (some scenes were taken in Barcelona). Right from that moment, I know that I want to visit the place someday. Fast forward today, here I am, still longingly looking at some photographs taken in La Sagrada Familia.
I cannot deny that visiting La Sagrada Familia is on the top of my bucket list. I kept on telling myself every year that I will be traveling to Barcelona for my birthday. It never happened. I know you understand my obsession for Barcelona; the beautiful city is rich with different architectural designs which can be seen on its buildings and historic places.
Here are some of the amazing facts about La Sagrada Familia:
1. La Sagrada Familia is still under construction.
Yes, as of this moment, it is still being built. It is so perfect that it already took a hundred years to be built and counting. I wonder if I will catch a glimpse of those hard working construction staffs when I visit the church, I want to pat each one of them at the back for a job well done.
2. La Sagrada Familia is appointed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
Do I need to explain why? La Sagrada Familia has the most surreal architectural church design, its beauty is alluring and enthralling.
3. Its architect was buried in the church.
How cool is that? La Sagrada Familia’s architect Antoni Gaudí was buried in the underground level of the building. Gaudi is a genius and he deserves this kind of respect.
4. It is one of the top tourist destinations in the world.
I am not the only one who is obsessed with La Sagrada Familia. Every year, almost 3 million tourists visit the church.
One way or another I will be visiting La Sagrada Familia soon. Fingers crossed, I hope this year is the year for Barcelona. I am ready for an adventure of a lifetime.
